900 CE. A.H: Arab merchants come to live in Ghana. They gain more influence and teach the people of Ghana about Islam. Islam spread through West Africas. Many people converted to Islam because they were impressed by it's teachings and the conduct of the early Muslims.
300-500: Rise of Ghana due to trade.
700-1000: Ghana dominant power in western Sudan.
1359: Mali didvided by Civil War.
1619: Africans are sold from a Dutch warship to merchants of Virginia a company in Jamestown, Virginia.
